Online Zygomatic Implant Program

From fundamental concepts to practical application

This training course combines theoretical and practical content in which the student will acquire the knowledge and confidence necessary to perform zygomatic implant surgeries.

Program Overview:

In severely resorbed cases, zygomatic implants are the only possibility to rehabilitate the patient immediately. Zygomatic implants have been developed for a graftless approach in which the implant is directly loaded into the zygomatic bone bilaterally, combined with two to four conventional anterior implants loaded within the alveolar bone, allowing for immediate load and function of a fixed implant-supported prosthesis.

This comprehensive program will cover the use of zygomatic implants for the treatment of the severely atrophic maxilla. It will include the use of single, hybrid, and quad zygomatic implant case types.

Anatomy-based zygomatic implant placement will be featured. Conservative osteotomy preparation with a focus on prosthetically guided implant placement, along with soft and hard tissue considerations, will be discussed.

The program will cover in detail: diagnosis and treatment planning, the immediate load concept, step-by-step surgical protocols, a complete digital restorative workflow with the use of photogrammetry, and complications.

Program Objectives:

  • Relevant anatomy and its influence on maxillary classification for zygomatic implant placement as well as the risks, objectives, and bone preservation principles of the osteotomy (single vs double osteotomy)
  • Planning the osteotomy, including types of zygomatic implant osteotomies (tunnel and channel osteotomies), preserving bone with the window osteotomy, and the drawbacks and advantages of maintaining the maxillary sinus lining
  • Osteotomies and implant design, including number of implants and implant diameters
  • Avoiding complications, including: orbital perforation, temporal fossa penetration, zygoma fracture, excessive bleeding, infra-orbital nerve disturbance, transcutaneous drilling, intracranial penetration, facial hematoma, labial laceration and paresthesia, cellulitis and flap dehiscence, infection, late soft tissue dehiscence, cellulitis, regular implant failure, peri-abutment inflammation, coronal gingival fistulae, coronal sinus fistulae, apical fistulae, oronasal or orosinus communication, late rhinosinusitis, bulky prosthesis, and fracture of prosthetic components
  • Soft tissue management, including soft tissue healing and delayed surgery, incision techniques, the palatal roll flap, partial-thickness flaps, soft tissue stability and compression, soft tissue infection, the scarf graft, effects of the abutment on soft tissue, suturing considerations, and hygiene recommendations

Program Curriculum:

  • Learn diagnostic data collection and analysis for full-arch implant reconstruction
  • Learn treatment planning and different surgical techniques for zygomatic implants
  • Learn how to prevent and manage early and late postoperative complications with zygomatic implants

The online program is specifically created for dental professionals eager to enhance their expertise in the cutting-edge techniques and innovations of zygomatic implant rehabilitation
